allhands_wpmuThe Cedar Grove Fire Department held their dinner at Il Tulipano on Sat. February 6 in honor of outgoing chief Alex Spinella. Spinella received his Ex-Chief awards and various other service awards were presented to members of the department.
Mayor Joseph Chiusolo and Councilman O'Toole also recognized and presented Proclomations to Alfred Giancola and Russ VanZile for over 50 years of dedicated service to the Township of Cedar Grove.
On Tuesday February 8th, at 1630 Hrs, county fire dispatch requested a Cedar Grove ladder truck to respond to cover the city of West Orange while they operated at a house fire, en-route Truck 74 was diverted and sent to the scene of their fire where they worked for several hours with West Orange and various other towns assisting in the blaze. Crews were cleared and back in quarter’s approximately 2000hrs
Members of the Cedar Grove Fire Dept responded last night to a 6 alarm fire located at 1275 Bloomfield Ave, in Fairfield NJ a little after 1800hrs. Center Company responded with engine 71 and was relieved a few hours later due to the frigid temperatures by North End Engine 72. All CG units were released and back in quarters at approximately 0000hrs.
Cedar Grove Gets a New Fire Chief On January 4, 2010, Mayor Joseph Chiusolo swore in a new Chief for the Cedar Grove Fire Department. John Bannon, a member of the Department since 1998, is the youngest Fire Chief to serve the Township of Cedar Grove.
